Another step I take to try and reduce my footprint is to use homegrown fruit and veg to eat fresh, bake with or to turn into chutneys and jams. We only grew tomatoes this year as we rent (we do plan to invest in some raised and removable veg patches when our budget allows). I made homemade tomato sauce with some πŸ…πŸ…πŸ… and we ate lots of them fresh with salad. My mum has also given us tons of cooking apples, these gorgeous eating apples 🍎🍏🍎, pears 🍐🍐🍐 and even two pumpkins for Halloween πŸŽƒπŸŽƒπŸŽƒ. I plan to make some apple and pear crumbles, I've already made some apple and pear puree for our son as he starts weaning soon, I plan to make some toffee apple jam and an apple pie. When we carve the pumpkins I will try to save as much of the flesh to make a pumpkin puree for the freezer that I will use for soups, ravioli filling and also for baby weaning as it's lovely and sweet if you roast it before pureeing. We don't need to make any more chutney as my husband made a litre of yummy autumn chutney last year and we still have plenty left. It's such a nice feeling to know the food on your table and in your belly is grown and cooked with love #homegrown #thegoodlife #grownwithlove #saynotoplastic #reduceyourfootprint #homegrownpumpkin #smallsustainablesteps #slowsustainablehome #sustainableliving
