Got to tick 2 more of the 50 classic climbs of North America the same week earlier this month. Here’s some shots from liberty crack on our second go after bailing off previously in a thunder/hail storm:
1: Following the first of the back to back 10d pitches
2: My first time aid climbing!
3: View from the summit of liberty bell never getting old.
Thanks @monkeyman_90 for the photos and all the stoke bud!! #aidclimbing#granitedreams#tradisrad#climbing_pictures_of_instagram#alpinism#pnwonderland
While cities kill people biodiversity transform them, we are a shit stucked in the floor vs birds and nothing vs mountains aguante Transverse Volcanic System in Mexico 🤘🏽 #mexico#northamerica#latinamerica#america#trekking#outdoors#volcano#camping#campsite#glacier#picoftheday#conservation#natgeolatam#alpinism#mountaineering#nature#naturelovers#clouds#picodeorizaba#etica#parisagreement
In 1967, Chilpariti (aka Wedge, 5,550m) was the last major summit of the Allinccapac massif left to be conquered. The imposing southwest face was so highly desired that two expedition teams (New Zealand and UK) literally bargained for it. In exchange for a handful of smaller unclimbed peaks, the great southwest face of Chilpariti was granted to the Brits... but they failed, finding it far more arduous than anticipated. Meanwhile, the NZ team reported, “There was much grumbling amongst ourselves at Camp IV when we saw what a fine climb the southwest face would have been.” The following year (1968), the Brits returned and managed to achieve the summit by an easier route - an affair spanning 3+ weeks in which they eventually traversed from a high col shared with an adjacent peak to reach the top. Since then, Chilpariti had not seen a successful bid, and the southwest face had gone untouched. ⏩Fast-forward to 2018: @gisellewanders and I are proud to announce that the beast has been laid to rest. We persisted through cold whiteout conditions to slay the Southwest Face (IV, D 80° AI3, 700m). Ours was also the second overall ascent of Chilpariti, coming 50 years after the first ascent, which also happened to be a husband/wife duo. Many many thanks to The North Face @thenorthface and the American Alpine Club @americanalpine for funding this expedition!!!
For those who were here when I needed it, thanks everyone.
Back in the game here in high altitude! 😊
Congrats to @duca.stefano to keep up and still performing so good!! #mountainlife#alpinism#mountainlover
