🚨 dumpling content alert 🚨 naming your restaurant “Juicy Dumpling” and then actually serving extremely juicy, savoury, tasty dumplings - steamed or fried to a crisp - is definitely #BDE // thanks for the overhead shot 📷 @buttertigers
Back to Lings pavillion!💝 this place is definitely one of my top pics for best chinese in Mumbai!
What we had-
Crab meat nd asparagus soup- a very simple crabmeat broth based soup flavoured with asparagus. I would prefer Nanking soup with crabmeat over this.
Chicken chilly garlic- This appetizer is just diced chicken stir fried with garlic, scallions and red chillies and much more that only the chef's know, but its still so tasty.
Stir fried Roast pork- This gem was a stunner. The pork was beautifully roasted and then stir fried with garlic and scallions. When it was served it had that beatuful aroma and a lot of the jus left over after syir frying. The jus was pure gold😍
Mixed fried rice with chicken, pork, prawns and egg- This fried rice was one of the best ive had in this city. Lings toally make all these proteins work together so beautifully and the quantity was sufficient for two after we had our soup and starters.
Mongolian chicken- This is a speciality at lings pavillion. They always suggest it and its a crowd favourite. Totally worth it!
Now time for some things to remember before you visit here!⌚-
This place is not just one of the usual places in mumbai where you get indianised chinese. This place is completely different. This is not one of those places you get the usual tripple sichuan rice orl manchow soup type menu. The menu here is completely authentic and may seem rather confusing at times. So Here is a trial/suggested menu from my end for all those enthusiasts who plan to visit here-
SOUP- Prawn/Crabmeat Nanking soup
APPETIZER- Chicken chilly garlic, crispy chk/prawn wantons, chk/prawns suimai, roast pork, pork spare ribs, sichuan pork.
RICE/NOODLES- Mixed fried rice with chk, pork, prawn and egg, roast pork/chicken pan fried noodles
MAINS-Mongolain chicken, chicken in chilly oyster sauce
Apart from these, do consider asking the waiter for suggestions. I always prefer doing this. Happy eating!
My poor hands 😩😩 I've spent all weekend at the house and my hands have paid for it. Edens in bed already (thanks to her dad not letting her nap 😏) so it's shower time and probably an early night (after my Chinese 😍) #chinesefood#renovationlife#renovationhands
Some of my favourite foods this week in Xi 'An. Most of these are Shaanxi specialties and the Muslim quarter of Xi 'An is one of the best places to find them. 1. Suan la jiaozi (lamb or beef dumplings covered in a rich broth with lots of black vinegar and chilli oil.
2. Yangrou paomo (rich lamb soup with crumbled mo bread which is similar to a chewy pita bread, with spring onions, glass noodles and sliced lamb)
3. Roujiamo (chopped meat in a chewy no bread covered in chilli paste).
4.Babaozhou (8 treasure soup, this one is a sweet porridge type dish with plenty of fruits like red dates, sultanas, goji berries and plenty of nuts. It's gloopy, sweet and warming, Becky was glad of this because it's also vegan and tastes amazing).
5. Jianbing (mungbean pancake stuffed with chilli paste, hoi sin sauce, lettuce, deep fried wonton skin, egg and Chinese pickles. The egg is optional so can also be vegan friendly).
6. Guantang jiaozi (beef soup dumplings, quite richly spices and each one is bursting with the most amazing soup. Some people bite these and then suck the soup out, I dip them in the chilli or garlic vinegar and do them in one bite).
7. Xiangmigao (fragrant rose petal jam stuffed glutinous rice cake. Crispy on the outside, chewy and the most amazingly fragrant rose petal jam in the centre. The best dessert I've eaten in China).
8. Majiang liangpi (this one is actually one of my favourites, Becky's too since its also vegan friendly. Rice jelly noodles sliced into long cuboid shapes, covered in sesame paste, sometimes beansprouts, chilli oil and paste, black vinegar, cucumber and optional coriander. So fresh and amazing, I need to get making this when I'm home). After seeing Shanghai a week ago, the street food scene there is just a husk of its former self, but in Xi 'An the heart and soul of street food is still alive and well. #xian#xianfood#chinesefood#streetfood
HOMEMADE: Watch the live reaction to my original Dandan noodle creation by the brown Gérard Pique. This was a seperate batch I made (Pic 2) which without meat (which it doesn't actually need tbh because of peanuts) is actually 100% vegan!!! I couldn't imagine the day I'd feed Amir vegan food and he'd love it 😂😂😂 My food don't just look nice guys, kmt to anyone who thought different 😘 x
HOMEMADE: My own little mutated riff on Dandan Noodles, so not authentic but still 100% Asian. Traditionally its a savoury, dry spicy noodle dish with minced pork, chilli, garlic and szechuan peppercorns. But I was inspired by some of the noodle dishes at @dintaifungofficial and what I personally wanted to taste, so I decided to up the savoury and umami notes by introducing peanuts to create a smooth sauce (some variations may have a bit, but I got carried away lol). This also gave it some maddd mouthfeel. I've played around with the recipe and the combination over the past few months but here is my first attempt! Ngl, don't wanna blow my own trumpet but this might be better than DTF.. 🤔 👀🎺😎
