3 years ago I left home (UK) & came to Australia 🇦🇺 .
Look at all my farewell messages that have come up on my Facebook memories 💔
Wow those years have flown by, but I can very confidently say they have been the best 3 years of my life so far! .
Even at 30 I'm still asked what my favorite color is. I've always had a hard time answering this question, because I really didn't have a favorite color. Well now I do. My favorite color is Sunset 🌅🌅🙌🙌
Drops of sweat dripped down my nose and onto the trail as I stopped to catch my breath. The boys were waiting for me about 100 meters away, waiting to me to catch up to them.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When I did catch up, I barely had enough time to breathe before they were going again. And once again, I fell behind. My legs were burning. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
My breathing was uncontrollable. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But I couldn’t go any faster. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I was frustrated, angry, upset. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Why couldn’t I be as fast as them? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Why don’t they seem to be struggling as much as me? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Why am I so damn slow? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I stubbornly trudged up the mountain, stifling angry tears and frustrations. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It took me a summit and a half before I calmed myself down. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And this is what I came to realize: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We beat ourselves up way too much. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We need to leave expectation out of the equation; you’ll get to where you want to be eventually. ⠀
Have fun. It’s not a race. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The boys just have to keep waiting for me 😛⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Sometimes I just feel like this road - keep looking up and onwards. “In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks” John Muir This morning a short 10km, Hike#2 of @52hikechallenge and, knocked off 1 challenge from the Adventure Series “the forest hike! “🌳
I’ve been in the mountains every weekend since the snow first flew in early October. Some days I drag my ass out of bed, for work or play, with mental promises to catch up on sleep another day (which never happens) or cursing myself for having that glass of wine the night before (who am I kidding, it was a bottle). But I’m not going to stop until the conditions stop me. Because I know when the actual Winter season hits the Canadian Rockies there will be plenty of days where just the act of being outside for 5 minutes, let alone for a whole hike, will be unbearable. Those are the days I will rest. ⛄️

Post sunset views onto Mt. Sefton and Mt. Cook in the distance. After a climb up of around 2000 steps we reached this view and had it all to ourselves and were treated to an epic sunset, an afternoon I won’t be forgetting anytime soon! #DoSomethingWild#Trespass @trespass
