Visual Storytelling - The legend of Sicily was born to give an explanation to the island's name Sicily (its ancient name was Trinacria - land of the three capes). It tells the story of a beautiful Lebanese princess, whose name was Sicily. An oracle had predicted that before she became 15 years old she was to leave her country alone in a boat, and if she did not do so she would end up in the jaws of the monster “Greek-east” that would have appeared under the terrible form of the cat-monster. To avoid this terrible fate, upon the completion of the fifteenth year of age of the princess, her parents, crying and desperate with pain, put her in a boat and entrusted it to the waves. After three months adrift at sea the poor princess Sicily believed that her life had come to an end, since there was no more food or water. Her boat was taken by good winds upon a gorgeous beach at the slopes of Etna – this beach consisted of lumps lava and golden sand, full of flowers and fruits, but completely deserted and lonely. The young princess was in despair and cried until she no longer had tears, when suddenly a young beautiful man appears next to hear, to give her comfort and love. The young boy explained that the islanders had all died of plague, and that fate had chosen him and princess Sicily to repopulate the island with a stronger and kinder breed.
Just him and her, two young and beautiful humans... things could not have turned out better. Sicily did indeed marry this young man, who was really capable and brave, with the looks of a true knight.
Being now king of the entire kingdom, a kingdom filled with so many treasures and with all that that land was producing, he was glad and esteemed Sicily as the apple of his eye. Because of this he wished to call their land Sicily, and this has been its’ name ever since then.
Помните, я выставляла чб фотографии коровника и спрашивала год, в котором могли сделать этот кадр?
Больше всего мне понравился ответ 1970е.
На самом деле, это кадры с прошедшего лета. И вот их продолжение!

@paul.marchant probably not appreciating my comment about how nice these Tetons are 😂
Side note: Have we been married for nearly 4 years or did we just get engaged? Maybe we’re just really bad at posing ourselves together 🤔

Vatican is a different country right? So should I count it as the 9th country I visited?
Anyway, this place is the prettiest place I've ever been. Unfortunately, there's just too many tourists (Yes, I'm one of those tourists so it's a bit hypocritical of me to rant about tourists). Swipe left to check the next picture. Imagine if there's fewer people, it would have been so amazing. There's a lot of guided tours, audio-guided tours, people who just went there without a tour. Different flags for different tours, selfie sticks everywhere. I can't even really stop to just enjoy the beauty because there's a lot of people behind me.
I wonder if this is an issue. People including me wants to travel and as much as I'd rather visit the non touristy places, these famous places are also a must if it's your first time in a place. I don't know what the solution is. A timed entrance? Limiting the number of tourists inside? Is it even possible to do? 🤷♀️

The world has been explored far and wide, true. Humankind has been everywhere, true. But it’s still possible to put your feet on virgin land, knowing that you will be the first and possibly the last. You just have to find the right place. Like a semi-frozen marsh in Perfection Valley.

Channeling all of the moody, rainy day vibes even though I’d rather spend a rainy day exploring the pnw and not hunkered down inside here at my house.
Gonna take today as a day of production and pump out as much editing and back end work that my eyes will let me muster. Though I’d be lying if I didn’t tell you that rainy days make me super tired and lazy. 😜
What a busy weekend we had and into another busy week! Lately it feels like we are running on fumes and we don't even want to stop to notice details, like having everyday booked with activities, what are we eating, if the place is cleaned up 🙈, seriously! But one thing we don't go without doing is our date nights. even if it's just ordering in and intentionally hanging out with each other, or going out to the park, bringing ice cream and enjoying the sunset 🌇... I'll never get tired of our moments together in the middle of a busy week! 😊
We all have a mental picture of the kind of friends we want to have in our lives. We want friends who will be supportive. Who will stick with us when life is tough. Who will not judge us. But it’s time to flip that around.
Life always begins with becoming rather than finding. Dating is not about finding the right person for your life. Marriage is not about finding the perfect man or woman. No, it’s about becoming the person God wants you to be. In this way, whether you do date and get married... or you don’t... you still win, because you are becoming the person that God wants you to be.
So, with this in mind, we need to look at what it takes to be the kind of friend we want to have in our lives.
1. We need to be a friend who is sincere and not phony. No hidden agendas.
2. We need to be a friend who extinguishes evil and celebrates good. Speak truth with mercy and forgiveness. Assume the best of people and ready to humbly work to restore the relationship.
3. We need to be a friend who is open-handed with our resources. Share & actively meet needs.
4. We need to be a friend who rises above the situation.
5. We need to be a friend who moves freely among all people. The gospel doesn’t treat people differently, and neither should we.
6. We need to be a friend who is a peacemaker. If we are at peace with that person, then we are reflecting the gospel. We are living free.
By being that friend, we will find friends who will recognize the power of the gospel in our life and be drawn closer to God.
