Have you ever walked into a gym or fitness class and felt like you don’t belong?
This feeling is especially common if you haven’t worked out in forever (or maybe it’s even your first time) and you’re feeling like everyone around you is in much better shape.
That’s the time when you’ve to convince yourself and make up your mind and think about your goals, things you want to change in you.
First, let’s hit the brakes on this train of thought. Every one of those people started somewhere. They didn’t leave the womb shredded with the endurance of a horse, and they surely don’t come to the gym just to stand around and show off how buff they are.
So what is the difference between you and them?
They stopped thinking about others and got to work on improving themselves, regardless of their level of fitness. Their will to be better overrode their fear of being physically inadequate.
So struggle to catch your breath with pride. Soon enough, you’ll be better than the next beginner that steps through the doors.

It’s true when they say a Sunday well spent brings a week of content 👌🏼 Roast dinner consumed, beds all changed and washing done.
More importantly, me and my Mother in law had a very ‘constructive’ conversation about Christmas because I’m non committal and a bit of a last minute plan maker 🤷🏼♀️
By constructive conversation, I mean both agreeing that a lasagne on Boxing Day isn’t very festive and her telling me that she would just bring a ‘giant fucking prawn ring’ if I was worried about festivities 🍤 It’s just a good thing that we love each other greatly and that I am the best daughter in law ever. I mean, I spawned a female recreation of her Son and now she gets to watch/laugh from afar. Anyway, we’ve decided on a festive afternoon tea. I’m definitely gonna have to hit Pinterest for this one. Today I must listen to my body and rest ! That wasn't my plan for today , I planed to wake up workout do laundry, study and cleaning , i am hoping to get some of those things done ✅ but only the must & not rushing . My workout is out for today , I am having off & on nausea, my neck and shoulder is hurting , my nose is all messed up ! So it's gonna be a slow day for me ...& that's okay ! Fitness is an opportunity. It's a choice. It's the dedication to get off the couch and get that workout in even though you don't feel like it. It's the dedication to eating a healthy diet and fixing healthy meals even when you feel like just ordering a pizza...but it also doesn't always have to be this way. Life is about finding the balance that works for you. This weekend was my sister's wedding! I ate wedding cake, pizza, pancakes, and even a doughnut. I drank hard cider and coffee and definitely not enough water. I'm not feeling in my top shape and that's why! It's ok though because I know when I get home I'll get back on track and start up the workouts again. How do you find and keep balance in your diet/exercise or in your life in general?

I get the feeling that many people on this platform who have followed me for a while, whether we grew up together or went to school or uni together or at some point played sports together, might not totally resonate with the captions and topics that I now post. And that is completely understandable. I don’t expect to resonate with everyone, nor is that my goal. The thing is when you start to get really clear and honest with yourself about who you are, what your values are, what you stand for, what you have to offer and what you want to create with your life, the amount of people you appeal to gets smaller and more specific. You start to find your niche. You start to find your community of people who will accept and support you for you. And I think ultimately you manifest fewer, much deeper relationships. Vulnerability on this platform and in my life has been one of the most liberating (and also at times f*cking scary) things I’ve ever done for myself. But if anything, I’ve become so much stronger mentally and emotionally. I’ve become less self conscious, and more grounded in who I am because of it.
I can honestly tell you I suffered from being a serious “people pleaser” growing up. I always wanted to make people happy, I didn’t want to offend anyone, I wanted to have lots of friends and be well liked. And while I still want to make people happy and I would never want to hurt or strongly offend anyone, with age and maturity I’ve realized that the most wonderful form of freedom is feeling free to be yourself and allowing yourself to do so.
Try to imagine a life where you no longer confined yourself to the opinions of others. Where you no longer let others expectations dictate your life. You were no longer afraid to speak up and stand up for yourself and others. What would that feel like?
Seriously what would happen if you gave yourself permission to stop caring about what people think of you? To stop second guessing yourself. To stop overthinking everything. To just know deep down that you don’t need anyone else’s validation to be happy being you but your own.
