I’ve been a bit disengaged around here lately because this whole being a mom of three thing has been kicking my butt lately. I feel as if every ounce of my emotional energy has had to be reserved for my three peanuts. And I’m realizing that the learning curve for twins really never does go away. I’m currently trying to figure out how to handle empathetic emotions from Ella and Rosie... as in, Rosie gets hurt and needs my comfort, but then Ella gets upset because Rosie is hurt. Who do I comfort? The one with the physical hurt or the one with the emotional hurt? Sigh. And no they are not as willing to share my lap as they used to be. In the small, discouraging moments it’s easy to lose sight of the “why” of parenting... I often forget that I’m in the long haul and that these momentary behaviors won’t last forever. It’s so tempting to take the easy road isn’t it? To pretend I don’t notice that hair pull or to give in when I’ve already said no... parenting is hard work, it’s full time work... it’s full of joy and laughter and happy memories, but it requires so much of me. I know the temptation to numb myself from it, and to try to escape it through distraction, but lately I’ve realized that putting in the hard work now and ENGAGING in these years will be my greatest blessing later on. So I dig in, I soldier on, and I keep my gaze on where I’m going.
Focus stacking practice continues! This time 20 images stacked with Helicon Soft Focus software. I have often glossed over tiny chrysanthemums- but no more. Perhaps this is the point of macro photography- it makes us stop and really look💖 #taurangaphotographer#focusstacking#heliconfocus
Practicing and practicing, I’m working hard on my focus stacking skills. This is 11 images stacked together in photoshop, I probably needed more but get a bit anxious about capabilities of the processing power. In the end, I like the tapering blur at the back edge of this final version. A new Dahlia in my garden! #taurangaphotographer#focusstacking#topazlabs#practisemakesperfect
After a very long absence from Instagram, the arrival of my first tiny bedding dahlia provoked the need to reach for my camera and create an image (not that my camera has been idle, just employed elsewhere!) Hand held focus stacking was employed to fully bring out the delights of this early bloom. #dahlia#taurangaphotographer#focusstacking
This picnic was a good way to test whether or not Ella and Rosie were ready for fancy tea cups. Spoiler: they weren’t. We switched to tumblers in about five seconds. Regardless, the girls love having picnics (whether inside or not) because it turns something ordinary into something special. I just have to let go of my idea that the girls will sit still and no plates or cups will be knocked over by moving babies 😆👶🏼👶🏼👶🏼 This mat is from the @gathre x @witanddelight_ collaboration. It’s so perfect you guys! I’ve been keeping it in my car instead of a blanket and it’s so handy to have. It’s basically the convenience of a tarp, but as comfortable (to sit on, not to wrap up in 😉) and pretty as a blanket. I highly recommend it! (Gifted)
It’s been a rainy few weeks and we’re all a bit restless! I wanted to take the girls on a fun autumn picnic this past weekend, but, you guessed it! more rain. So we brought our picnic indoors, and other than the many 🐶 attempts to steal food, it was actually super fun.
The picnic “blanket” we’re using is part of the new capsule collection from @gathre x @witanddelight_ We have the midi size in “bloom” and we love it! It’s going to be perfect for all of our beach trips next summer ❤️ #partner
It’s taken Ella awhile to find her voice in our house... she’s definitely more prone to give in to her sisters when toys are being snatched, but this week she has found it with a vengeance ha! She’s turned into a hair pulling, voice will be heard tornado! I’m glad and I’m not glad 😂 Happy Sunday everyone!
