TBH on a tues && JUST FEELIN’...positive && cheesy (get over it tho)! ✨👋🏼🌈 BBBackstory: the entire front of my phone screen shattered about 2 n’ a half weeks ago, basically forcing me into not using my phone or social media. 🌝 I really *really* am glad it happened tho && i was able to focus more on 🌎 kate’s irl world 🌎 && do some much needed healthy prioritizing (bff bobby, midterms, work) ANYWAY! for some of my cool friends here’s a LONG AF ramble 🙃 . . . Sometimes on this lil’ app we see a photo someone posts && visualize that entire persons’ being based off of it, or if we don’t do that...we sometimes compare ourself and our situation to said photo. Not like allllll the time, but it happens from time to time as human beings! ADMIT IT. 👀 I always hear girls I follow say “don’t compare yourself to strangers on instagram” but it’s something I was struggling with weekly as dumb as it sounds!! 🤭 Sometimes when I post something, I can’t help but think “would so and so from back home judge me for this?” or “I really felt confident and cute in that photo but (blank) makes me/it look stupid”. I’m done with this mindset. ❌❌❌ Because we are all sooo much more than what we share on here which brings me to my NEXT point (I know this is long plz bare with me I’ve never been this vulnerable on social media before) . . . MY POINT IS that I want to start being more open && honest on here? 🆗 -not that I’m not already- I just want to share more && be more open to everything! So today was my first time that I've been back to Crosstown Concourse since it opened and all I can say is wow. This place is a Memphis marvel. So many different things to do AND then the fact that people work and live there. I'm really thinking about hitting up the block party this weekend. Here's a few of my thoughts on Toronto. It's been my home since 2004. I moved here from a small town in South Carolina and everything about the city intimidated me. Heck, some aspects of it still does. Just about everyone I've met in any capacity have been so nice and helpful. And I can't open my mouth in a single place without getting "I love your accent!" and "I love the south..." comments. And well, I've come to appreciate the north and Toronto. And I've come to really love Canada. I came to Toronto with big open eyes and soaked everything in. I became more open-minded as I met those from other backgrounds, countries, cultures, religions. The city has heart with the people providing the heartbeat. Toronto has changed me for the better in many ways. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families and all of those affected by yesterday's attack. 💙

It was a whirlwind getting to this point, but I made it. The mess started when my hubby had to fly into Glasgow ahead of me for work, but his flight out of Charleston was delayed due to storms in the northeast & there was no way to re-route him, so I had 3 practice runs to the airport to get him out of town a day late😒 I’m still recovering from the loss of my little Gidgie monster🐶 last month, & then after my husband left I learned my 17 year old cat, Porky, had cancer😭. I rescued him as a sick little kitten waaaay back when I lived in Hawaii & flew him back to the mainland w/ me. He had developed terrible arthritis & after talking w/ my vet & my friends who are vets, we came to the conclusion that I should humanely let Porky cross the rainbow bridge😢 So in the midst of my to-do list that was 10000 miles long, I managed to give Porky a great last day laying in front of the fireplace w/ his brother & getting all his favorite treats, then my vet came out to help Porky fall asleep one last time in my arms while sitting on the sofa in our living room.😔 I had no time to mourn & had to stay up all night to finish packing & getting things in order for all our house/dog/cat sitters. Grabbed a red bull before heading out the door to make my way to the airport, only to sit in road work traffic, so my 30 minute commute took an hour and a half.😩 Michael was checking traffic updates for me from Glasgow & we were both afraid I was going to miss my flight or get bumped & end up in the same situation as him & arrive a day late. Thankfully I made my flight w/ about 10 minutes to spare😳 Had a good cry at JFK w/ some nice ladies from Ireland who coincidentally were talking about the one woman’s cat who passed away recently. They hugged me while we were standing in line after I told them about Porky & that I hadn’t even had a chance to process his passing yet. I just wanted to get to Glasgow & see my hubby. Thankfully I was able to get on an earlier connection from Dublin to Glasgow, so I got to see him even sooner than planned & could finally cry w/him about our loss of little Porky😭 So here I am...trying to enjoy our ill timed vacay😕

But it has taught me something powerful: God is an impenetrable refuge and our all encompassing strength. Saying that is easy. Experiencing it is humbling. Whatever pit you find yourself in today, remember that God’s love can always reach you.
