Sometimes we will never know the value of a moment
until after it becomes a memory. ⚡ . . .
I can assure you,
in this moment, I was 100% aware of the value of our time here together! Around sunset, we took a drive through Cheyenne Canyon and Gold Camp Road above Colorado Springs. The soft blue sky against the canyon, the crisp autumn air that crept in as the sun set behind the mountain, and the smell of pine lingering in the valley will forever stay with me! 🌲 . . .
Who’s done the #rimtorim hike? It’s one of the top hikes on my bucket list and I’m so excited because we’re going to do it in the spring!! Hoping to take our time and camp for a few nights - any recommendations?! ⛺️⛺️
Me when I match an outfit to a location and also me thirty minutes later when I see the perfect puddle of mud to send our Jeep through 🙊. Sometimes ideal conditions aren’t an option when you’re on the road. For this trip specifically, we had to completely re-route months of planning and location scouting due to rain- like flash flood risk kind of rain. There were moments of frustration and then we just completely embraced the conditions we were handed. We ended up staying here pretty much all day and had one of the best days of the trip. All of this to say, with outdoor photography, you constantly wrestle with your patience, creativity, and flexibility but if you continue to push beyond your limits you may produce some of your best work when you adapt to your surroundings.
Lots of route finding and rock scrambling yesterday! Days like this make me feel like the wilderness is literally my playground. And of course I had to keep going further and walked around the lake because I'm always wondering, "What's on the other side of that ridge??" Turns out an old man with a donkey was down there! 🐴 that was a first for me 😂
Some days it is rocky, some days it is smooth. Some days it feels light, some days it feels heavy.
No matter how hard it gets, we have to keep going.
No matter how uncomfortable it seems, we have to keep facing those fears, over and over again. Because without them, we all know that there's no growth. Without them, we can never reach higher goals.
We are more powerful than we think. When we dare to face those fears.
When they appear, talk to them gently. Tell them to vanish, only for a moment. Then repeat.
When they come back and you feel in the dark, go outside, seek some light. Even on a cloudy day you will perceive a glimmer of hope in the sky. Focus on that.
This the ride of life, we're all riding it the best we can.
